On the 15th of September, 2020, a significant change in the position of the President of the European Organ Exchange FOEDUS ocurred. Having finished his two terms Premysl Fryda left the position and has been replaced by Franz Immer. Whilst Fryda´s priorities were to build up internal structure and legal status of the organization, as well as to increase the number of participating countries, Franz Immer will mainly concentrate on clinical issues and increase of the number of patients transplanted. At present, FOEDUS consists of 14 member states with population 370 million, which is more than twice as much as Eurotransplant. The main aim of FOEDUS is international exchange of organs for which suitable recipients cannot be found in the country of origin. During its existence FOEDUS has given a new chance to almost a thousand of European patients.
