The agenda covered a wide range of topics related to organ, tissue, and cell transplantation, addressing both technical and ethical aspects.
Particularly noteworthy were presentations on donation after circulatory death (DCD) donors, xenotransplantation, and genetics, as well as overall statistical data on transplantation trends across Europe. Another key focus was on the digitalization of transplant procedures and health data. Additionally, the issue of transplant tourism was highlighted, with experts discussing how to enhance international cooperation and prevent illegal organ trafficking through the National Transplant Contact Points network (NETTA).
During the meeting, there were also discussions regarding the upcoming European Organ Donation Days (EDD). Representatives from Lithuania, Spain, and Greece shared their plans for EDD events for 2024 and 2025.
